Local Chiropractor Holds Bike Helmet Giveaway and Kids Fair in Recognition of Brain Injury Awareness Month

Chiropractic Louisville KY Helmet Safety Day 2023

Louisville, KY - As an established chiropractor and owner of Lowe Chiropractic & Wellness in Louisville, Dr. Patrick Lowe, sees his share of neck and back pain and headaches and migraines resulting from head trauma. And while he is quick to assert that accidents do indeed happen, he is taking an active role in doing what he can to prevent the lasting effects of those by hosting a Kids Fair on March 6 where he will give away 500 bike helmets. The event is being held in recognition of Brain Injury Awareness Month, which takes place each March. Proceeds benefit the Brain Injury Association of Kentucky.

The free kids' fair will include a helmet giveaway, a bicycle rodeo, a gymnastics course, door prizes, food, and chair massages for the adults. It runs from 10 am to 1 pm at Lowe Chiropractic, 10306 Shelbyville Rd, Louisville, KY 40223. In Dorsey Plaza

“This year has been stressful for kids and adults, bicycle riding can provide social distances exercise, and fun.”

“The issue is personal for me as the father of four and as a doctor who has seen the life-changing effects of preventable injuries in far too many kids as well as adults. By providing helmets to families who may not be able to afford them and raising awareness, I believe this event can make a measurable impact in our community,” said Dr. Lowe, who has authored articles on the topic for professional publications.

“And while the end game is healthier kids, we are also looking at this as a great kick-off to spring and a fun way to get the community together,” he added. Statistics clearly show that his efforts can indeed make a positive difference. As much as 88 percent of bike-related head trauma can be avoided by wearing a helmet. In fact, bike helmet use among children ages 4-15 is estimated to be able to prevent up to 45,000 head injuries – every year. Dr. Lowe says that with over 12 million children in the United States reported being bike riders, there is a significant opportunity for improved education on helmet usage to reduce the devasting effects of preventable injuries.

“As the temperatures in Louisville are inching up, kids are eagerly getting their bikes and skateboards out after a long winter. Before they hop back on, let’s get them equipped for the ride,” he added. Lowe Chiropractic & Wellness helps patients struggling with neck or back pain, headaches or migraines, carpal tunnel, sciatica, and other health conditions. The practice’s Google reviews and website testimonials show a long list of satisfied patients of all ages.
